"I Spy with My Eyes" • MOE Kindergarten @ Springdale
Our environment is made up of different lines, shapes, colours and forms. A simple line added or removed from a drawing might give it a different meaning. In the same way, when different types of lines are added onto a simple line, a child can create a totally unexpected drawing from his/her imagination.
This activity shows how a teacher’s facilitation can introduce children to different types of lines and stimulate their imagination so that they can ‘see’ and create original drawings from any given line.
Here, we see how children from MOE Kindergarten @ Springdale use their creativity to form shapes and/or pictures using straight, curved and zigzag lines.

The children then finished their drawings with added lines as well as colours. They explored the use of an array of art materials provided, such as paints, coloured pencils, markers, chalk pastels and oil pastels. While exploring the art materials, some children began mixing the primary colours, hence getting secondary colours. They were all surprised and delighted to see the new colours emerge. There was much sharing of ideas and observations among the children and the teacher throughout the session.

The art materials were made available at the “Let’s Create” corner and the children could work on their art pieces independently during Learning Centre time.
