GP 2: Facilitate and guide
What is Guiding Principle (GP) 2 of the ICT Guidelines?

Why is it important to apply Guiding Principle 2?
At this young age, children are still learning and developing foundational knowledge and skills. Children should not be expected to be independent users of ICT. Hence, the use of ICT should be facilitated and guided by teachers.
How can you apply Guiding Principle 2?
To apply GP2 effectively, you can:
- Be knowledgeable about the functions and capabilities of the ICT tool or resource
- Give clear instructions that set expectations and appropriate ways of using ICT
- Scaffold children’s learning through the use of ICT based on their existing abilities and prior knowledge
- Provide opportunities that encourage and support children in constructing their knowledge through play and exploration
