What is inventiveness?
Inventiveness is the ability to be flexible in your thinking and generate different solutions to solve a problem. Some child-friendly slogans are:
- Be flexible in thinking
- Look at it in another way
- Try something new
Why is inventiveness important?
Inventiveness helps children to explore doing things in different and creative ways.
How can you nurture inventiveness in your children?
How might children exhibit inventiveness?
Here are some examples of how children might demonstrate inventiveness through their actions, speech and behaviour:
- Generate different solutions to solve a problem.
- Suggest new and different ways of doing things.
- Look for new or different resources to complete a task.
