Use of ICT
What are the ICT Guidelines?
Based on the NEL Framework, the "Teaching and Learning Guidelines on the Use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Pre-school Centres" (ICT Guidelines) can assist you in planning, implementing, and reviewing learning activities that incorporate ICT.
You can use these guidelines to:
- Plan engaging ICT-based learning activities
- Implement ICT tools effectively in the classroom
- Review and improve ICT-integrated learning experiences
Why is it important to refer to the ICT Guidelines?
The way you integrate ICT into teaching and learning can significantly impact children's experiences. The three guiding principles (GPs) state that the use of ICT in preschool centres should:
- Complement children’s learning experiences and be developmentally appropriate
- Be facilitated and guided by teachers
- Be carefully considered to ensure the safety and well-being of children
